The photo used to make up this print features a man pushing his bicycle as he makes his deliveries along Bowrington Road in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. This image was one of those moments. Taking a short cut, as I often did, along Wan Chai Road and heading towards Causeway Bay, I stopped at the junction with Bowrington Road for a moment. A matter of seeing was new and if there was anything I should stop for to take pictures. A little way off, I saw this gentleman approaching me and pushing ahead of him this bicycle with a huge wicker basket up front. Initially I could hardly see him, he being on the off side and obscured by the basket in front of him. I’m now not sure if I took any photos before this – I’ll need to check my archive if I did. Had I had on a longer lens, the head behind the basket would have made for an interesting picture in itself. As it is, I was using a short zoom lens. I waited for gentleman until he was in full view. This is when I made this image. It was only in the post-processing that I noticed the subtleties in this photo – that there was a slight blur to everything as I panned to make this image except for the eyes. This is life as it’s lived on the streets of Hong Kong.
All prints offered for sale from this site are paper based. The prints are made using the Lambda C printing process, a process whereby a digital image is projected onto some form of chromogenic photo-sensitive media via three [RGB] laser beams. The media is then run through a wet chemical process to render the final print. We offer either a matt or glossy photo finish. Each print has a 1 centimetre white boarder around it. We do not offer framing or mounting.
At this time we do not offer prints using ink-jet printing technologies. Simply put, our digital workflow has been optimised to use Lambda C printing process technologies. Our printers use Fuji’s Photo Crystal papers. By archival standards, Fuji papers are on par with the best art papers used to make ink-jet prints. While we do not usually sign our prints, each print comes with its own signed Certificate of Authenticity.
