The photo used to make up this print features prospective buyers viewing tropical and aquarium fish at a shop on Tung Choi Street – otherwise known as Goldfish Street – in Mongkok, Hong Kong. A number of features that make this street both unique and popular. There are few places in the world where a street, several blocks, is solely dedicated to the sale of tropical fish and aquarium paraphernalia. One of the factors that makes keeping aquariums popular in Hong Kong is fung shui, the art of balancing or harmonising energy and life forces in the home or the workplace. In Hong Kong, it would not be unusual to walk into a shop or an office and, no less a home, to see an aquarium strategically placed somewhere. And, more often than not, one will often find twelve goldfish together with one black fish in the Aquarium. The black fish is supposedly there to absorb bad luck and negative energy. But, I am no expert in this matters. This is just what I hear.
All prints offered for sale from this site are paper based. The prints are made using the Lambda C printing process, a process whereby a digital image is projected onto some form of chromogenic photo-sensitive media via three [RGB] laser beams. The media is then run through a wet chemical process to render the final print. We offer either a matt or glossy photo finish. Each print has a 1 centimetre white boarder around it. We do not offer framing or mounting.
At this time we do not offer prints using ink-jet printing technologies. Simply put, our digital workflow has been optimised to use Lambda C printing process technologies. Our printers use Fuji’s Photo Crystal papers. By archival standards, Fuji papers are on par with the best art papers used to make ink-jet prints. While we do not usually sign our prints, each print comes with its own signed Certificate of Authenticity.
